Joining takes one form and one visit.
- FormA few minutes online.
- ConfirmationStraight back to you.
- AppointmentOptional: you can also drop by.
- First visitID check, and you can collect.
The form takes a few minutes and you hear back straight away. After that the only thing left is coming in with your ID, and you can collect on the same visit. Everything below is the detail.
The steps
1. You fill in the form on the site. A few minutes, nothing to prepare.
2. You get a message straight back confirming it arrived. From that point you are pending verification.
3. You book an appointment. You can also just drop by during opening hours, but booking means somebody is expecting you.
4. You come in with your ID, we check it, and you are a member. You can collect the same day.
What you need to bring
Your ID and something to pay with.
We accept:
- cash
- instant bank transfer
A regular bank transfer works too, but you will not be able to collect until the money has actually arrived, so it is worth choosing the instant one if you want to collect on your first visit.
What it costs
The membership fee is €20 a year.
That is the membership itself. What members contribute for the flower they collect is separate, and it is listed on this site so that it is always up to date.
Who can join
Three conditions, and all three are settled on your first visit.
- 21 or over
- Six months in GermanyResidence or habitual abode.
- No other clubOne cultivation association at a time.
You need to be 21 or over and to have had your residence or habitual abode in Germany for at least six months. That is the law and it is the same everywhere in the country. It is not a Berlin rule and not one of ours.
You can belong to one cultivation association at a time: if you are already a member somewhere else, you would have to leave there first, and when you join Grüner Bär you declare that you are not a member of any other cultivation association.
How long you stay
Membership runs for a minimum of three months. The law requires this of every cultivation association.
How many members there can be
At most 500 per club, as the law caps every cultivation association at five hundred people. That means a club is not something that can simply keep growing to meet demand, but a community organised around a deliberately small size. That size is what lets us use advanced growing techniques without sliding into standardised mass production: a group of growers joining forces to raise good homegrown flower.
What happens on the first visit
Ten to fifteen minutes, an ID check, and then you choose. It is described step by step in its own article: Your first visit.
One thing worth saying plainly
A cultivation association is not a shop. You are not buying from us; you are joining something that grows for its own members and passes what it grows on to nobody else. Most of the rules above exist because of that difference rather than in spite of it.
